The M.P. Birla Millennium Art Gallery was inaugurated on 13th June 2002 by the Right Honorable Tessa Jowell MP, Chairman of the Millennium Commission. It is a light, spacious and airy room made so by several windows, one of which leads on to a decked terrace.

The gallery is available to hire by artists and promoters (see under FACILITIES HIRE) for specifications regarding renting the gallery and can accommodate most mediums, from paintings and prints, to sculptures and installations.

The Bhavan seeks to promote artists from any origin whose aim it is to expand our understanding and appreciation of worldwide contemporary art, through their work and with talks and workshops.

The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Archive and Library Resource

Preserving the rich and diverse heritage of the South Asian art and culture in the UK.

The Archive and Library resource, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, consists if a large collection of photographs, slides, CDs, DVDs and books. These include aural and visual recordings of the Bhavan’s musical and dance performances by famous artists. Also included are lectures, exhibitions, visits from dignitaries (including politicians and VIP’s from India and the U.K.), events and celebrations as well as Art and Archeology of the Indian Sub Continent.


The archive catalogue will soon be accessible via Bhavan’s website, where you can access photos and slides online and search audio and visual recordings.
