Bharatanatyam
Course description: Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest dance forms of India. It was nurtured in the temples and courts of Southern India since ancient times. Today it is a very popular and widely performed dance style, practiced all over India. The expressional aspects, the beautiful colour costumes and the rhythmic patterns used add a new dimension to this art form.
Qualification: Open, Diploma, Post Diploma, Advanced.

Kathak
Course description: The North Indian classical dance, Kathak, is characterized by fast rhythmic footwork in complex time cycles. Movements include numerous pirouettes executed at different speeds and ending in statuesque poses. The interpretative portion derives its content from Hindu mythology and is also greatly influenced by Mughal period. Lucknow, Benares and Jaipur are recognized as the three schools where all aspects of this art were nurtured and refined.

Odissi Dance Classes
Mondays 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Course description: Classes are conducted by Swapnokalpa, she is an Odissi dancer who has trained under the legendary guru Kelucharan Mahapatra. She has performed at various prestigious venues and has been teaching Odissi for the past 8 years.
Swapnokalpa has won several coveted awards including the Ministry of Culture by government of India and national scholarship for Odissi dancing in 2001. For more information contact the Bhavan office
