Bengali Music
Course description:
This musical form which became more widely known through the contributions of Gurudev Tagore is a beautiful, traditional form which developed in the eastern part of India, particularly in Bengal. Bengali Music has separate sections such as Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, Raga Pradhan and others. Bengali Music is known for its softness and very emotional nature.

Hindustani Vocal
Course description: This is the North Indian Classical Vocal tradition which developed from ancient India and has been significantly influenced by the Islamic tradition during the Mughal rule. Many great composers of both the Hindu and Islamic traditions have contributed to its richness. This is the more widely spread vocal music tradition of India. Of late the devotional, ghazal and other light classical aspects of this music are becoming increasingly popular.

Karnatic Vocal

Course description: The South Indian Classical Vocal tradition is a highly developed and systematically organized field. In addition this vocal tradition has not been affected by foreign influences. The vocal tradition is always considered to be the most important since it offers the most direct method of expressing oneself. This system has been enriched by great composers who themselves were eminent musicologists.
