Bengal Heritage Foundation, London Sharad Utsav and The Bhavan present the 2nd Fagun Fest, bringing Bengal’s “Poushmela” to the heart of London, with music, Indian handicrafts and food stalls with various forms of ‘pithey’ (very similar to pancake).

“Poush mela” means “Winter Fair” and Fagun marks February. One of Bengal’s most colourful carnivals, it carries the essence of Bengali culture amalgamating the splendours of folks like Baul musicians, tribal dancers and local village artists.

Performing musicians include eminent Bengali musicians Deepmoy Das, Arpan Thakur Chakraborty and Sadhu Das Baul, and a notable exhibition by renowned artist Alok Jana, who has won President’s Award in 2008 for his work on “Mataranchis” (extremely fine weaves).
