The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is adding a new Sanskrit class to its portfolio. The new class is an opportunity to savour the beauty of Sanskrit through reading original texts and learning the meaning of the verses, using the Ramayana text in the first term. One will be able to learn Sanskrit through immersion - hear the language spoken, read it out loud, and practise it in the way one learns a new language.

Teacher - Dr. Nandakumara has been teaching Sanskrit since 1977 at The Bhavan, London. The Chairman of the UK Sanskrit Association, Executive Director of The Bhavan himself, he received an M.A in Sanskrit (with Distinction) from the University of Mysore in 1975, and a Ph.D. in Devotional Literature from SOAS London in 1983. He taught weekly Sanskrit classes at Cambridge University for three years in the 1990s, and has taught lectures on Indian Art and Culture and Philosophy and Sanskrit at various schools in UK, South Africa, and Spain. Additionally, he runs a class on Gita and Shankara’s compositions at The Bhavan since 1990.

The spring term classes will be held every Monday from 7 - 8 pm, running for 10 weeks, from 14 January - 18 March, 2019. The course fee is £100 per term. Please call The Bhavan to register.
