Virasat is a celebration of Kathak’s enduring legacy, exploring the timeless dialogue between rhythm, movement, and spirit. Inspired by the melodic resonance of the ghungroo, the performance traces the journey of a Kathak dancer, where every step awakens stories, emotions, and traditions passed down through generations.
With intricate footwork, graceful chakkars, expressive abhinaya, and dynamic rhythmic interplay, the ghungroo transforms from a simple ornament into the very heartbeat of the dance. Its resonant chime becomes a voice that carries devotion, joy, resilience, and artistic expression, connecting the past with the present.
Presented as part of KKMUKCIC’s 20th Anniversary celebrations, Virasat is a tribute to the rich heritage of Kathak—honouring the Guru-Shishya tradition and celebrating an art form that continues to inspire, evolve, and unite generations through the universal language of rhythm and storytelling.
