This is a focused workshop for those interested in learning more about the art form of magic and gaining some basic skills in performing magic.
Shankar Junior is an award-winning Magician, who has performed all over the world. He lectures and teaches extensively on the art form of Magic.
What is the workshop about?
Exploring the various aspects of magic from a complete beginner’s view point, including manual dexterity, sleight of hand, theory in misdirection, psychology, building pattern and scripting, performance technique using acting skills, and how to entertain people with magic.
What will we cover?
Cards, coins, ropes and balls will be taught, with some extra moves dependent on your progress.
As this is a workshop-based class, questions are encouraged.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this work-shop you should be able to…
- Master the four disciplines as listed with confidence
- Perform tricks using the four outlined principles, with a view to expanding the tricks into routines.
- Have the confidence to stand in front of any audience and use the tricks and principles as a tool to entertain
- Entertain with knowledge of basic stage craft techniques.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
No previous knowledge of magic is necessary, though some performance experience (i.e. acting) is an advantage. Those with experience are very welcome!
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The various aspects of magic will be demonstrated, followed by pair work, group work and individual phenomenon. Members of the class will be asked to demonstrate an effect followed by group discussion.

Comfortable clothing. Please bring with you a pack of cards and some coins.
