India Awareness Days provide a unique opportunity for primary and secondary school children to experience the colourful culture of the Indian Subcontinent, and a chance to learn about classical Indian music and dance. The Indian traditional arts are rooted in the mythology, and narrative storytelling is a key component. These traditions come alive at Festivals.

The day consists of demonstrations of North and South Indian music and dance forms featuring instruments like the Sitar, Tabla, Vina, Violin and Mridangam, as well as performances of Kathak and Bharatanatyam dance. This is followed by participatory sessions.

India Awareness Days support the school curriculums of AQA, Cambridge IGCSE Music, Edexcel, OCR and SMSC Policy. They can also be used towards obtaining an Arts Award Discover and Explore.

Schools who have visited us include White House Preparatory school, ACS Hillingdon, Sutton High School, City of London School for Girls, Wimbledon High School and Seven Sisters Primary School.
