Bala is both a talented performer and teacher. He has accompanied some of the most legendary artists in the Indian classical music scene including Pandit Ravi Shankar and Dr Balamurali Krishna. For him the Mridangam is everything. Several of his students have gone on to become successful professional artists in their own right including Pirashanna Thevarajah who is currently touring alongside Anoushka Shankar.
