Abhinav Mishra

Abhinav Shankar Mishra is a young and aspiring Kathak dancer known for his remarkable dedication to his craft and his deep roots in a family legacy spanning over 200 years of mastery in Hindustani classical dance and music. Born in 2002 in London, UK, to esteemed Kathak maestros from Benaras, Abhinav began his training at the age of 4, skillfully blending his rich heritage with his upbringing in a multicultural city. His extensive training in all three major gharanas of Kathak—Lucknow, Jaipur, and Benaras—highlights his versatility and comprehensive understanding of the art form. Alongside Kathak, he possesses a profound knowledge of Tabla and has studied Mridangam under Sri M. Balachandar. As the resident Kathak teacher at The Bhavan, London, Abhinav passionately shares his expertise, instilling technical mastery and cultural appreciation in his students while inspiring them to honor and evolve the tradition of Kathak. Beyond his performances, he plays an integral role in his family's artistic endeavors by contributing technical expertise to their shows. Equipped with a BA in Production and Technical Theatre for Stage and Screen from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, Abhinav excels in stage management, lighting design, and sound engineering, enhancing his family’s performances with a seamless blend of artistry and technical acumen. Deeply in love with Kathak, Abhinav aspires to share his talent with a global audience, aiming to elevate the art form to new heights while preserving his family’s legacy. With unwavering dedication, he is committed to the growth and evolution of Kathak, ensuring its place in the modern world.

He will teach all 3 major gharanas of Kathak of Lucknow, Jaipur and Banares.
