Dr. Kandiah Sivakumar
After 40 years as a practising psychiatrist Dr. Sivakumar focussed on a lifelong interest in the art and archaeology of the Indian subcontinent. He completed his Bhavan certificate and encouraged by Padmashree Dr. John and Mrs Wendy Marr proceeded to do a ma in the history of art and archaeology in South and Southeast Asia at SOAS. he later became a visiting research associate in the department of sculpture, Tamil university Thanjavur, India, and completed a Ph.D. His thesis was on the architecture and iconography of the tower gateways of Tiruvarur Tyagarajaswamy temple. He has been keenly involved in temple restorations in Sri Lanka and a supporter of many cultural activities in the UK.
